I graduated in 1973 from the University of Maine at Farmington with
a K-8 Elementary Education Degree. I am taking classes
towards my Masters in Literacy from the University of Southern
Maine. I have been teaching at RDMS since 1998 on the seventh
grade team
as an ELA teacher. Our classes run in a reading and writing
workshop
format.
Homework for students is to read at least 30 pages a day in a book of
their choice, five days a week. Writing consists of an
autobiography unit which takes most of the year to complete. Most
of the writing is done in class but students may need to finish typing
or writing their chapters at home if they do not finish in the time
allotted. This finished project will be presented to anyone they
would like to present it to in a student led conference format at the
end of year open house.
Supplies Needed for this year will include the following:
1. 1" to 1 1/2" binder with plastic cover to
be able to slide a cover page and binding for the book.
2. approximately 25 protector sheets
3. one subject notebook of about 70 pages
4. colored pencils
5. blue or black pens to write with
