Our geographic location, though rich in history and scenic beauty, physically isolates our school population from centers of higher learning. The development and use of innovative strategies for the delivery of specialized or rigorous courses and curricula through the use of technology, including distance-learning technologies, is encouraged.
Various funds provide the encouragement for development and use of innovative strategies for delivery of specialized or rigorous courses and curricula through the use of technology as follows:
On-line courses
Off-site University Classes
Conferences/MLTI Workshops
After-school skills based, mini-workshops
Summer Technology Institute (3 days) with participants paid for their time
Individual consultation/training
MSAD #5 will explore a variety of Virtual Education Technologies that could enhance the delivery of course material to students beyond the traditional school constraints. Through the use of Virtual Education technologies MSAD #5 may be able to offer both interventions for those students not meeting the standards as well as advanced programming outside of the traditional school day. Students may be able to access these online courses at various times and locations; before or after traditional school hours, weekends, school breaks, at school, at home, at community learning centers, community libraries, etc
