Bicycle Safety Teacher Training
The Bicycle Coalition of Maine, in cooperation with the Maine Department of Transportation, is offering a one day course to train teachers, police, medical professionals, health educators, and volunteers how to most effectively teach bike safety in their schools. The course qualifies for 1 CEU and will be taught by several of Maine’s leading Bicycle Safety Educators. The course is FREE, and lunch is provided. This is a hands-on and on-bike program. Bring a bicycle and a helmet.

Instructor: Patti Dinse If you have ever thought about having Botox, spider vein treatments or other cosmetic enhancements (such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion and Restylane dermal fillers), this course is for you! We will explain the science behind these treatments and what they can and canot do, as well as discuss safety and the importance of preserving a completely natural look. We will also explore claims made by over-the-counter skin care products, including vitamin-enriched products.
CERT Seminar
Instructor: John Fochtman & Phil Netzorg This will be an information and recruiting event for the establichment of a CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) in Thomaston and or other communities in Knox County. CERT teams are trained in basic disaster response skills. This could be anything from first aid, to light search and rescue. These skills could be applied in times of natural disaster as well as terrorist attack. Come and join CERT if you want to serve your community, learn new skills, meet new people and make a difference during times of crises! Please call to register.
Driving Dynamics
Maine’s “Driving Dynamics Course” offers all drivers the opportunity to improve their defensive-driving abilities. This course will include discussion of collision-avoidance techniques, safety issues, driver habits and attitudes, and the basic elements that constantly challenge drivers on Maine’s highways. A certified Maine Driving Dynamics instructor teaches this course. The course format engages student with lectures, videos and class discussion/participation. Those completing this two-day course will receive a three-point credit on their driving record.
Grief Recovery Workshop
Instructor: Wanda Curtis California chaplain Phil Many has written that one in every four patients in every hospital is there because of unresolved grief. This course will focus on identifying causes of grief, physical and emotional responses to grief, and some basic steps to recovering from grief. The term “grief” will be examined from a broad perspective – including grief resulting from any type of loss – death, divorce, loss of health, loss of a body part, loss of a job, loss of a pet, etc. Materials fee payable to instructor: $5

Family rowing brings the whole family on the water and along the shore for fitness and fun. Moderate rowing and walking, nothing particularly aerobic or strenuous. Who says exercise has to be painful? Children under 10 are welcome as passengers. Tennis For Beginners
Instructor: Deb Merchant. This course is for players with little or no tennis experience. You’ll learn basic technique and stroke production and soon be on your way toward understanding court positioning and playing short rallies. Deb Merchant is an accomplished player and teacher of the sport. Open to all ages (high school and older) and abilities. All you’ll need is a racket and a desire to have fun.
