ACTING OUT: Put your Drama in the proper place- on Stage! If you’ve ever wanted some time in the spotlight, now here’s your chance. We will be learning all about being on stage: reading plays, memorizing lines, learning how to improvise, adding dance movements, and much more. This Club is a collaboration with Youthlinks. BEACH WEEK-- Enjoy the local beaches! We will be visiting five different beaches in the area: Chickawaukee, Crescent beach (Owls Head), Owls Head Light State Park, Birch Point (Lucia Beach), and Drift Inn Beach which is at the end of the St. George Peninsula. *THERE ARE NO LIFEGUARDS AT THESE BEACHES. COOKING-- Café Miranda staff Do you like new foods? You’ll spend each morning learning new recipes and cooking techniques from the Café Miranda chef.

DANCE-- FIND YOUR GROOVE with Erma Colvin, an experienced dance professional, will lead students in a variety of dance styles. Our day may look like this. 9-9:50- Warm-up and African dance/jazz/hip hop class 9:50-10:00- break 10:00-10:55- craft time. We can make tie-dyed or batik fabric for costumes and belts made out of yarn and beads. 11:00- noon- Learn choreography. Some traditional African dances, mixed with African, jazz and hip-hop. If any of the girls have previous dance experience they can help with the choreography process.

HANDBALL-- Handball is a game like Tennis or Racquetball, except that the ball is hit with a gloved hand. It is a great sport for physical conditioning and eye-hand coordination. Over the past years, Handball has grown in popularity at RDMS, with practices twice a week throughout the school year. Our Handball Students participate in 3 major tournaments each year. PHOTOGRAPHY--This four day photography workshop will focus on traditional film based photography as well as digital photography. A portion of the week will be spent photographing, processing, and creating prints from our traditional film based negatives. Later in the session, we will work with digital photography and begin to explore how digital cameras work, size of files, importing photos into a laptop or a desktop, and what to look for when deciding to print from a digital file. Taught by Herb Cole, a local professional photographer. (Max 10)

Pottery/Clay Express & More--Express yourself! Get you hands into clay and see what you can create! Students will their try their luck on the potters wheel, and design imaginative cool stuff that they hand build in clay. Ceramic Artist Randy Fein will inspire students to create imaginative objects in clay. Ms Fein is an accomplished artist and Art instructor. Her is work exhibited nationally and may be seen locally at Art Space Gallery and Landing Gallery both in Rockland (RDMS Art Room)

PREPARE FOR YOUR FIRST (or second) 5K-- Train in the morning for your first 5K, 3.1 mile road race. We will be walking, jogging, and sprinting to prepare for the race. We will also be doing some strength training, such as lunges, squats, push-ups, crunches, etc. The race is a scenic race at the end of the beautiful St. George Peninsula. TENNIS-- What better sport for summer than Tennis? Here’s a chance to learn or improve basic skills, learn singles and doubles strategy, and play games. This Tennis clinic will be held at the Tennis courts at RDHS
